Going to Austria by rent-a-car

Dear guest,
Our beloved neighbours are very rigid concerning the highway fee and general road regulation. In order to protect you to be ripped-of, we give you a short list of important information:

  1. Switch on the light during daytime.
  2. You have stick the "vignet" firmly to the windscreen. It is not enough to just put them on the dashboard. It is not regulated how much they can tear out of your pockets ... but it is a lot.
  3. A warning west must be on board for EACH passenger
  4. Reduce spped on highway: 130 km/h (80 mp/h)
  5. Going from Inzell to Salzburg we recommend to drive along the Bundestrasse (not the highway). It is cheaper.
  6. In some austrian regions, the police is allowed to ESTIMATE your speed. If you got cought, DO NOT protest, they can charge you what the want you to charge.
